Provisional dates and venues for two major Masters events in 2019

The following are provisional dates and venues for two major Masters events in 2019.

The 2019 Master Worlds are expected to be held in Scheveningen, Netherlands in September (note: contract still to be signed).

The 2019 Master Europeans would be in Rosas, Spain from 14 to 20 June.  This was the site of the 2007 Masers Worlds and is a superb place to sail and visit.

Eight Bells - Jim Christopher

Older Master Laser sailors on the west coast will have no trouble remembering the inimitable Jim Christopher on the race course.

2017 Laser Masters North American Championship

The 2017 Laser Master North American championship was held at the Buffalo Canoe Club August 25-27.

Matan Wins 25th Florida Laser Masters
54 Sailors from 5 countries and 15 states gathered at Palm Beach Sailing Club to experience great ocean sailing in an 6 to 8 knot southerly on Saturday in balmy 80 degree sunshine.  The RC wisely decided the 25 knot breeze in the ocean could make for unsafe conditions for the fleet so we enjoyed "lake sailing" in 20 plus northerlies on Sunday.  Mike Matan showed his speed in the heavier winds on Sunday to emerge as the winner.  John MacCausland, last year's winner, was 4 points behind to finish as runner-up.  Ian Lineberger beat out Ryan Minth on a tie breaker for third overall.  Ari Barshi was OCS in race 4 removing him from the title contention.  Many of the sailors took advantage of the rig swapping option for Masters sailing and switched to Radial sails on Sunday.  Awards were presented to the top three finishers in each age category.  Overall results include the age handicapping points -- 3 for Apprentice, 2 for Masters, 1 for Grand Master and 0 for Great Grand Masters.  Most of these sailors will be competing Tuesday and Wednesday in the Midweek Madness and Fri, Sat, Sun in the Masters Midwinters East.  Results are at:
