ILCA-NA Executive Committee
Meeting Minutes
September 9, 2014 rescheduled to September 15, 2014

Chairman Andy Roy called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm EDT.  Also in attendance were Al Clark, John Long, Eric Reitinger, Meka Taulbee, Jerelyn Biehl and Sherri Campbell.  

1.The minutes from August 5, 2014 call were approved as distributed.

2.Action Items
a. 2015 Regatta Grid – North American Champs are not settled as of today.  Sail Newport, Ft Walton Beach YC & Sail NC are the possible hosts. Discussion of pros and cons for all venues.  Sail NC may conflict with the CORK Int. event. Ft Walton area has many other events. Discussion to go back to Sail NC to request a slightly earlier time to avoid conflict with CORK/Canadian Youth Champs. Discussion of Canadians and other events as well.
b. Ad campaign/Joe Berkeley offer was discussed with the conclusion that we don’t have a budget for this type of thing.

3.Office Report
a.    The Laser Sailor: Summer issue deadline September 15. Many articles already in hand.
b.    Finances: Sherri disussed the impending loss at year end 9/30/14.
c.    Membership: Numbers were turned in with 1830 for 2014 (7 shy from previous year)

4. New Business
a. 2014 Budget review:
i. Motion to increase dues $5 per category and to eliminate the family memberships effective January 1, 2015. Motion seconded and passed.  Article to come out in Fall issue of TLS from the treasurer discussing the change.
ii. Motion to drop the Opti Magazine ads for the coming year as a way to cut expenses as most Opti sailors are aware that the Laser 4.7/Radial is their next singlehanded option.
iii. Discussion of continuing the policy to reimburse regatta hosts for their RN fees on entries. It was agreed to keep this as a way to facilitate membership enforcement at regattas.
b.  2014 October election of Executive Committee – all current members of the ExCom agreed to stand for reelection.  The outline of the dates to meet the requirements in the Class Bylaws is: nominations October 6-12, campaigns in contested offices October 14-20, voting by district secretaries October 21-23.
a.Discussion of low turnout for ACCs; bad timing (Labor Day) and logistics of the event being held in Maine.
b.The East Coast didn’t seem to have a major event for 2014. Discussion of regatta rotation grid to have a re-look for 2016 and beyond.  Sherri will send the rotation spreadsheet out for review.
